Atlanta Jobs: Virgin Mobile Brings “Pink Slip Tour” to Atlanta Thursday July 8th

ATLANTA, GA – The unemployment rate in Metro Atlanta climbed from 9.8 percent in April to 9.9 percent in May and the number of unemployed workers in metro Atlanta increased to 262,571, up 3,113 from 259,458 in April.  May also was the 32nd consecutive month Georgia exceeded the national unemployment rate, which is now 9.5 percent.

To help local residents get connected with jobs, Virgin Mobile is teaming up with JobDirectUSA to host a “Pink Slip Party” that allows job seekers to mix and mingle with recruiters of companies looking to interview, and hire, in a more informal setting than your traditional board room – think speed dating for the unemployed.

The Atlanta Pink Slip Party is the fourth stop on a multi-city tour, sponsored by Virgin Mobile, called the “Pink Slip Tour”.

According to JobsDirectUSA, the same organization that brought the Pink Slip Party to Atlanta last November, the job networking mixer is the most fun and laid back job interview most who attend will ever experience.

To date, pink slip parties as well as various forms of social networking have helped many workers across the U.S. land employment during troubled times.

The Pink Slip Party will take place on Thursday, July 8, from 4 to 8 PM at Whiskey Blue at The W Atlanta-Buckhead. Job Seekers are encouraged to dress to impress, bring copies of their resume and be ready to network. There will also be a pink carpet display on site at which guests will have an opportunity to film their 30 second commercials or have their photo taken courtesy of ATL Nightlife
