The Morning Blend: A Time for Thanks

Like most of you, the hustle and bustle of the holiday season has once again jumped to the front of the line on my priority list. Thanksgiving is just a few days away, and I am looking forward to seeing family and friends, eating way too much, and watching every football game I can find on TV!
With all the frantic action that goes during the holidays, it can be difficult to find time to stop for a few minutes and reflect on things that you are really thankful for. The Blend today is my humble attempt to say thank you for the wonderful things that have happened to me in the last year, and to encourage you to do the same.
Here are just a few of the many things that I am thankful for today…
* I am thankful that my Mother has overcome some health issues and will be with us at Thanksgiving and Christmas this year.
* I am thankful that my children are both healthy, happy, and doing very well in school.
* I am thankful that my beautiful wife of over 20 years still puts up with me and supports me fully in my writing and speaking endeavors.
* I am thankful for my health and for the discovery that each day is indeed a gift, given to me to use for the betterment of those around me by a loving God.
* I am thankful for the VOWELS and that God has entrusted me with them to share with others.
* I am thankful for a chance meeting on LinkedIn that has completely changed the direction of my life, and for the wonderful friend that I now have in Carlos Gil of JobsDirectUSA
* I am thankful for each opportunity that I have to speak to individuals or groups about the VOWELS, and especially those in career transition or crisis.
* I am thankful that despite all the success of the book and the speaking tours have created, that God has helped me maintain a humble state of mind.
* I am thankful for the trials and tribulations of 2009 – those catastrophic economic times were a catalyst for changes in my life that lead to development of the VOWELS.
* Finally, I am thankful for the opportunity to help people in the year ahead. I have been given the chance to ignite my passion and to share those talents with others. I know God will put me in the right places to have the greatest impact I can on those around me.
What are you thankful for? In the acronym that I have for the word THRIVE, the “T” is be Thankful for what you have learned. Regardless of your career situation, you have been given the chance to learn something along the way. The journey may not seem to be a positive one, but if you look at each experience as a chance to learn something new then it will benefit you in the long run. As my Dad said “If you can’t make something, learn something!” – this is one of his many sayings that I live by each day, and I encourage you to look at the glass as half full – each day, every day.
If I can help you to understand how to turn negatives into positives in your career search, don’t hesitate to ask. I’m thankful for the chance to do just that in the year ahead.
Sincerely,
Brad Raney
