If you have lost your job, the first step is to file to for unemployment benefits.  You may be able to apply online or over the phone.  Your state unemployment office will have all the information you need on how to open an unemployment claim, and how to file for your weekly benefits.

    Don’t forget new unemployment compensation laws for florid went into effect August 1st. You claim your weeks online and have to report 5 jobs you applied for for each week claimed for a total of 10 for the 2 week period. It’s a major pain with all the info that they want but it’s the only way to get the compensation.
