The Morning Blend: Do As I Do!

You probably have heard someone say a common phrase…someone you know who’s older or in a position of authority…someone who is trying to help you, but it doesn’t really sound that way. They say “Do as I say, not as I do!” -  You hear “Oh, I have to do something that you won’t do?!”

When you heard this phrase you were probably much younger, or you just paid a visit to your parent during the holidays. Either way, hearing that phrase makes you feel like a kid and robs you of your ability to make solid, practical decisions on your own. You may have even “heard” this in some of things I have been asking you to do for the past two years: “focus on your passions”, “create a vocational GPS and follow it”, “don’t define yourself by your past job titles.”

Well, the time has come for me to look you in the eye and tell you to “Do As I Do!” Why? Because I have been trying to live my passions and chase my dreams, but only at half speed. I have spoken to over 20,000 folks, launched two web sites, published a book (second one will be out in early 2012!), and released a live DVD – all while working a full time job! I have been a bit duplicitous in telling you to “focus on your passion” while mine was a sidecar to my regular drive to work for someone else!

Now all that changed. Following the lead of my entrepreneurial counterparts, Carlos Gil and Kevin Morris, I have jumped into the pool fully clothed and my dream business is a reality. I am now the CEO of Personal Performance Partnership, and our tagline is “Empower – Inspire – Ignite”. My efforts will be concentrated 100% on helping those around me become the best they can be, and that means when I consult with you or present to your group or start an email conversation with you, and I tell you to that it’s time for you to learn what you were made to do – and then go after it! – I mean it! Whole heartedly!!

2012 should be the year that you and I reach new heights by identifying the gifts we have been given and then work tirelessly to make them the center piece of our lives. The New Year should be ripe with opportunity, full of joy and self-actualization, and a launching pad for a not only a new you (and me!) but for a better quality of life for your family, your friends, your co-workers, and your colleagues. All of that is possible if you begin to live your passions and work in your true vocation. Remember, once you find your vocation, you will never work another day in your life!

I have found mine and I will spend every moment I can make sure that I honor the gifts I have been given, working diligently to use them for my Creator. I invite you to do the same - Do as I Do! If I can be of help to you along this journey, don’t hesitate to ask – it’s why I’m here!

Sincerely,

Brad Raney
