Benefits Consultant

Non-producer position. 9/24/2009 Job Description: Benefits Consultant Responsible for providing, and facilitating delivery of, a broad range of group insurance and related products and services to clients, through the use and management of both external and internal resources within a mid-sized benefits brokerage/consulting organization. Assignments can range from small groups with under 25 employees, up to large clients with 100+ to 1000+ employees. Key Skills and Abilities: o Minimum 4 to 5 years experience in the group benefits field including 2 or more years working as a broker/consultant o In-depth knowledge of the group insurance market including all products and services is imperative. Applicable areas include: 􀂃 Group medical and prescription drug 􀂃 Group dental 􀂃 Life insurance 􀂃 Disability insurance 􀂃 FSA 􀂃 All other ancillary lines, including voluntary o Strong customer service skills o Excellent verbal and written communications skills o Strong general mathematical skills o Legislative and regulatory awareness o Ability to manage clients and projects independently and to provide guidance to clients in the decision-making process o Ability to recognize problems and client concerns and to work diligently to solve and/or manage these effectively o As least basic knowledge of experience-rating renewal methodology and selfinsurance o Additional skills/knowledge not required but considered a plus: 􀂃 Understanding of related insurance products such as individual life and disability 􀂃 401(k), 403(b) and retirement programs 􀂃 Wellness services and programs 􀂃 Underwriting background 􀂃 Foreign languages Job Responsibilities will include: o Working directly with clients and their employees.
