Senior Property Accountant

Primary Purpose:
Responsible for leading the property accounting function by maintaining a record of all company fixed assets and participating in other accounting projects as assigned.

 

Key Accountabilities: Include the following and other duties may be assigned.
§  Record assets in general ledger in compliance with GAAP and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulations.
§   Record any changes in property plant and equipment schedules and prepare monthly and quarterly financial packages, including additions, disposals and transfers.
§  Record all fixed assets into JD Edwards fixed asset system.
§  Review the computation  of depreciation and amortization.
§  Review the computation capitalized interest.
§  Reconcile inventory records of material and supplies in warehouses and physical inventories of all fixed assets throughout the company.
§  Maintain inventory records for Drag Reducing Agents purchased and consumed and code invoices accordingly. 
§  Analyze construction work-in-progress accounts to determine description and cost of assets constructed and/or installed.
§  Maintain asset records used to prepare annual report to government agencies.
§  Provide assistance with assimilating purchase acquisitions into company records.
§  Provide asset reports to various departments as scheduled and upon request.
§  Review vendor invoices  to ensure proper classification as capital or expense.
§  Handle daily emails and calls for requests for work orders and provide solutions to  coding issues.
§  Manage monthly close out process for Property Accountants.
§  Prepare annual depreciation budget.
§  Organize and oversee physical inventories and reconciliations for company fixed assets.
§  Act as liaison between Property Accountants and Management to resolve issues, answer technical questions and provide overall guidance to the Property Accounting team.
§  Support other Accounting projects as needed.
§  Reconcile various ledgers in the JD Edwards system.
§  Interface with internal and external auditors at various times during the year.
§  Maintain construction work-in-progress schedule for capital jobs to determine current status of projects.
§  Review and post journal entries prepared by property accounting group.
§  Perform various account reconciliations monthly.
 
Education:
§  Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or other related discipline required.
§  MBA preferred.
 
Experience:
§  5+ years related experience is required, preferably with a publicly traded organization.
§  Significant FERC accounting, fixed assets accounting or equivalent experience required.
§  Significant experience utilizing MS Office to perform accounting related tasks is required.
§  Experience with fixed asset systems such as JD Edwards is preferred.
