Senior Accountant, Consolidations

 
Overall Purpose:
Prepare consolidated financial statements for Buckeye Partners, L.P. for reporting to management, the respective Boards of Directors and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual consolidating financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, cash and changes in equity statements for Buckeye Partners, L.P. (“BPL”).  The financial statements are used to prepare financial statements and reports to the SEC, management, the Board of Directors and regulatory agencies.
  • Under the direction of the Manager, coordinate and prepare the monthly internal reporting by notifying various departments of the information needed for the report and by assembling and distributing the information to management for their review.  Issue monthly and quarterly reports to Senior Management comparing current balance sheet, income statement and cash flow information with budgets, forecasts and prior periods.
  • Prepare for Management review schedules demonstrating compliance with the covenants contained in our note agreements.
  • Create Board of Directors information packages for BPL Boards of Directors for insertion into periodic Boards of Directors’ meetings.

    5.         Participate in the implementation of a new consolidation system to automated processes which improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the month, quarter and year-end consolidation process. 
    6.         Update and maintain the new consolidation software once it is implemented in 2012.
    7.         Prepare recurring and other journal entries to support the monthly close process. Prepare various monthly account reconciliations.
    8.         Assist in the XBRL tagging of the quarterly SEC reports.
    9.         Prepare supporting schedules for audit activities as assigned.
    10.     Analyze various general ledger accounts on a regular basis.
     
     
    Education/Skills/Experience
    A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 5 years experience in financial statement preparation and reporting, or equivalent is required.  A CPA designation or a Master's Degree is a plus.
    Experience with general ledger packages such as JD Edwards is preferred.
    Exposure to consolidation packages such as Cognos or Hyperion is a plus.
    The incumbent must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, and familiar with consolidation software, and presentation programs, such as Microsoft PowerPoint.
