Healthcare Management Co is looking for a senior general ledger accountant to join our top notch accounting team. The senior accountant will support our general accounting department and play an integral role in the team and will be responsible for all of the day-to-day general accounting, cash management, internal controls, financial analysis, financial reporting, and financial planning/projections. The senior accountant leads monthly close, develops accounting policies, presents financial results to senior management, and performs technical research and analysis. This person also reviews the work of staff accountants, provides guidance, and assists with professional development as necessary.
Essential Responsibilities Include:
• Prepares complex reconciliations and reviews reconciliations prepared by staff accountants.
• Prepare Budget vs. Actual reports.
• Prepare monthly financial reports, including financial statements, cash flow forecasts, and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare capital expenditure proposals.
• Leads coordination of the accounting close and provides reports to management as required.
• Responsible for the review of trial balances, income statements, and balance sheets for all assigned companies.
• Provides reconciliations, account activity explanations, and other support as required for internal and external auditors.
• Oversees the preparation of journal entries, posting transactions, and the production of month-end reports.
• Monitors adherence to Finance Policies, internal controls, and GAAP.
• Closely supports Controller with knowledge, leadership, and staff development. Serves as backup to Controller as needed. Provides cross-functional backup to other accounting functions.
• Supports set up and maintenance of accounting and reporting for new contracts including research of applicable GAAP and regulatory requirements to support the accounting treatment of transactions.
• Actively participates in the development of accounting policy and internal controls.
• Manages chart of accounts, vendor master files, 1099 processing, tax preparation, and primary support for external auditors.
• Oversees the preparation and evaluation of budgets and other financial operating reports, and presents findings and recommendations to top management
• Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Performs a variety of tasks.
• Leads and directs the work of others.
Qualifications:
• Prior Budgeting/Forecasting experience
• Financial Analysis experience
• Quick Books experience
• Great Plains knowledge a plus
* Must be an experienced analyst with very strong budgeting, forecasting and computer skills
• Degree in accounting or similar business degree.
• Broad accounting knowledge, strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
• In depth knowledge of accounting theory, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Ability to understand and apply standard practices and procedures.
• Solid understanding of month-end close process and account analysis.
• Advanced knowledge of financial applications – Great Plains a plus!
• Skilled in identifying and resolving moderately complex accounting issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to effectively lead and motivate others within the department.
