Synopsis of Role:
The Student Accounts Specialist, Cash Receipts is responsible for cash processing and application, refund processing, account maintenance and reporting, reconciliation, research inquiries and customer service. This position requires excellent customer service and problem solving skills.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares and processes payment information for various pay types including credit card, automated clearing house, check, scholarships and electronic funds transfers paid by third parties and students.
- Prepares and processes daily refunds to third party vendors, customers, and students.
- Works closely with the Financial Aid Team on proper application and refunding of financial aid transactions.
- Completes daily reconciliation of cash and accounts receivable transactions.
- Completes student account maintenance to include application of funds and miscellaneous transactions.
- Assists with research and clean up to include past due invoices, payment issues, and refunds.
- Assists with graduation audits.
- Assists students and third party vendors via telephone and e-mail regarding account questions.
- Ensures compliance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act and Department of Education guidelines in daily processing.
- Provides suggestions of actions to the Team Manager on processes and issues.
- Interacts with other departments to achieve daily goals.
- Performs special projects as assigned.

Required Experience
- High school diploma required; Associate degree preferred.
- Minimum two years of accounts receivable experience required.
- Basic accounting skills and business office experience required.
- Experience with Windows based applications, specifically MS Excel required.
