Synopsis of Role:
This position is responsible for: releasing funds; completing credit balance requests; completing reconciliations; and other customer service related duties.
Essential Functions:
- Completes weekly and monthly releases of financial aid funds.
- Assists the Financial Aid Funding Team in completing credit balance processing.
- Maintains semester based reconciliations of the release of funds to include the Pell Grant and Direct Loans.
- Ensures compliance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act and Department of Education guidelines in daily processing.
- Assists where needed with collections and contacts students regarding financial aid balances.
- Works closely with Cash Receipts Team to ensure accurate posting and application of financial aid funding.
- Assists students, third parties and other departments on the telephone and via e-mail regarding the funding of financial aid.
- Provides suggestions of actions on processes and issues.
- Interacts with other departments and third party vendors to achieve daily goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Standard office environment in Charles Town, WV.
- Must be available to work Thursday - Friday 8 am - 8 pm.
Required Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Required Experience:
- Associate degree or higher preferred.
- Two years' experience in accounting/finance required.
- Experience in financial aid, accounts receivable, or customer service desired.
- Experience with Windows based applications required.
